Your research path is your tech tree to victory. Here is a prioritized order for the early to mid-game.
Area-denial specialists. Use Suppression to pin down dangerous targets and shred enemy armor with heavy cannons. Fire Support & Utility
Avoid launching missions here. Enemy squad sizes increase dramatically, and reinforcements arrive much faster.

Each resistance haven has three jobs.
This is your default and most important job early on. Rebels on Intel generate mission leads. The more rebels on Intel, the more time you will have to infiltrate missions before they expire. Your research path is your tech tree to victory
This represents how much of a threat ADVENT considers XCOM to be in a specific region. Doing missions increases Vigilance.

Every haven has hidden Faceless (enemy infiltrators). They steal supplies and sabotage you. The only way to find them is to assign a as a Haven Advisor. A high-rank soldier (Sergeant+) has a higher chance to reveal Faceless each month.
Use Sentinel and Cool Under Pressure builds. Specialists can lock down entire fields of movement, punishing ADVENT units that try to flank you.
Heavy squads (7+ soldiers) take significantly longer to infiltrate. Aim for lean, specialized teams of 4–5 soldiers for standard guerilla ops.
The ultimate scout. Keep them in concealment for as long as possible to spot enemy pods. Build them for sword strikes or stealth utility.
