The Brj-502 supports two programming methods:

: Upon plugging the device into a standard AC outlet, it automatically enters a "Preheating Mode" for approximately 180 seconds (3 minutes) . During this time, the red ALARM indicator will flash, and the display may count down or show "0". Do not attempt gas testing during this period. A: Go to System Settings > Security > Set Password. The default is 0000. The manual warns: if you forget the password, you must send the unit back for a factory reset – there is no backdoor.

During this time, the "STATE" light will flash green and the screen will show flashing characters.
