A man in a half-mask—Marco—appears and speaks as if he knows her past. He calls the woman in the painting “Anya,” and refers to secrets Elena has never admitted aloud. Elena is unsettled but intrigued; Marco’s knowledge hints at a hidden life she buried years ago.
